Goodbye Mini Session Alef!

Hello again!

Now that Shabbat is over, it's time to get back to business here at machaneh (camp) Galil! Things started out regularly with hitkansut boker (flag raising) and the daily ivrit shimushit. After breakfast, the Tzophimot left for tiyul (camping trip). They're in for an amazing 24 hours in nature!

Chotrimot love instructional swim!
For pish aleph (first age group activity) today, the chanichimot (campers) did a variety of activities. The Amelimot said goodbye to their friends in Mini Session Alef, as did the Chotrimot and Sayarimot. The Sayarimot and Chotrimot also got instructional swim! The Bonimot did activities that taught them the value of silence and better communication. These games included postman-an activity where kids write letters to each other based off of prompts that their madrichimot (counselors) give them- and a game where they responded to prompts in pairs and had to practice active listening by not speaking at all when the other person was speaking. The Bogrimot did a peula (activity) on labor Zionism and how that affects our lives here at machaneh. Specifically, how we take responsibility for the places we care for. They discussed what it takes to build a society and created their own imaginary ones.

Lunch today was ravioli and asparagus. Later for pish bet (2nd age group activity) the Bonimot did the same activity that the Bogrimot did during pish aleph. The Amelimot had free swim. The Sayarimot did activities about their Jewish identities. The Bogrimot did something extra special: they were split into groups to decorate their Bogrimot Moadon (Bogrimot hangout space). This was done in order to get the chanichimot to begin thinking about creating and decorating new worlds- a skill that will be vital in order to run Bozman. Bozman is a tochnit erev (evening activity) that the Bogrimot will plan and run themselves for all of machaneh. It's important as a stepping stone for the chanichimot in their path of taking on more and more responsibility at machaneh.  The Bogrimot will learn the date of Bozman tonight in an activity that their madrichimot will run for them tonight after tonight's tochnit erev!

Dinner was chicken, cauliflower, and sweet potatoes. Today's tochnit erev was French Revolution! The mazkirut (leadership team) acted as if they were the French monarchy! During dinner they sat at a fancy table and ordered everybody around. The chanichimot started revolting and so, after dinner, they went through a variety of different stations. Activities at these stations included such like song learning and writing their own Vindications on the Rights of Men. We, then, all went to the Chadar Ochel (dining hall) where we "punished" mazkirut for all their wrongdoings.

What an eventful day! Whew!
See y'all tomorrow!
-Miriam
