Fourth of July!

Hey again!

As you know, today is the Fourth of July! That meant that many of today's activities revolved greatly around the Fourth of July.
Breakfast today was french toast (of course absolutely) delicious.

Today, pish aleph (first age group activities) revolved greatly around the idea of Americanism. The Bonimot and Bogrimot read an article about freedom of speech and discussed our national anthem to dissect their American identities as well as power and privilege.

Madatz took a different course and discussed Judaism by reading a list of Jewish celebrities and then discussing their feelings about said celebrities being Jewish. The Chotrimot had instructional swim. The Amelimot were on day tiyul (trip) picking blueberries at Manoff Market Gardens! Yummy! They also went to Ringing Rocks State Park where they used hammers to hit the rocks to make musical tones!

Two kvustot (age groups) spent pish preparing for Friday. The Sayarimot spent this time preparing for their Kabalat Shabbat performances. Each week a different kvustah prepares 3 things for their kabalat: an English song, a Hebrew song, and an Israeli dance! The Tzophimot spent this time writing their oneg which is a funny skit prepared by one kvustah each week that plays on the different funny things that had happened during the week. Lunch was mac 'n cheese!

Pish bet (2nd age group activity) centered on Judaism and the value our chanichimot place on their Judaism as well as what defines Judaism for them.

At chugim (clubs) time the Fourth of July party truly got started. Our rosh (head of camp) Segev got everybody on the basketball court and said that the rest of the day was going to be a lazy one. Then Spiderman came out and said that Captain America was missing! Then all the other super heroes came out and everybody decided that our chanichimot needed to train before they were ready to save Captain America. Then it was time for a BBQ dinner!

FIREWORKS!!!
After that, it was time to find the puzzle pieces that would help our chanichimot discover who had taken Captain America and where he was. The different kvustot split up and were sent to different locations to find 10 well hidden puzzle pieces. All the puzzles pointed to one possible kidnapper: Aquaman! We all went down to the pool and helped Captain America regain his energy with a rowdy rendition of "This Land is Your Land." Then he was saved and we partied! After that we went back up and enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show!

Well, that was a splendidly spectacular Fourth of July!

See you all again tomorrow!
-Miriam
