Friday Fun Day Shabbos Day!

Hello everybody!

Today was our 2nd Friday here at machaneh (camp) Galil! That means that today was also the start of our 2nd Shabbat! Like last Shabbat, today's schedule was a tad different than normal. First, our chanichimot (campers) awoke to an unscheduled rain shower! We, then, had hitkansut boker (flag raising) in our Moadon! Then breakfast was MUFFINS! Friday is muffin day, after all, here at machaneh Galil. Then we had extended avodah because since tomorrow is fully Shabbat and that means no avodah! We also had extended nikayon tzrif  (mail cleaning time) which was also extremely important because tonight the cleanest tzrif (bunk) wins the Golden Broom!

Then it was time for madatz pish (Madatz running a weekly activity for their kids). The Amelimot planned a wedding for two of their Madatz. The Sayarimot did group bonding activities. The Tzophimot talked about decision making within their kvustah (age group). The Bonimot discussed Utopias & distopias. The Bogrimot had a discussion about MBI (our Israel program that chanichimot go on the summer after Bogrimot year) with Sara Zebo, a former rosh (head) here at Galil and currently on mazkirut (leadership) of all of Habonim Dror North America! Then it was time for Shabbat shira (song learning time). Then we had pizza for lunch!

Happy Sayarimot after an awesome Kabbalat!
After lunch was Hyde Park, a weekly event where chanichimot get a space to discuss ideas for changes for machaneh. After that was kibud (snack time) which was proceeded by time for our chanichimot to get ready for Shabbat! Then people went to mishpachot (family). This is the time of the week where people who family members get together with some nonfamily members in a sort of weekly family that gets together and discusses their week and the weekly torah portion.

Then was Kabbalat Shabbat. This week, it was the Sayarimot's turn to perform. Then we had a delicious traditional shabbos dinner of chicken, matzah ball soup, green beans, and potatoes!

Then we had the Oneg (funny skit) which was written and performed by the Tzophimot! After that we had rikkud (Israeli dancing)!

It is here that I would like to quickly remind you all that tonight was the start of Shabbat and tomorrow is fully shabbot which means photos today were limited and tomorrow will be few if any. There will also be no blog post tomorrow. This is to respect Shabbat as a different day.
