Smells Like Shabbat Up in Here!

We're sorry for the delayed posting!

Shabbat Shalom!
Today we awoke to a super sunny, bright Friday morning! After a delicious breakfast of pancakes and fruit, everyone headed off to their extended sessions of avodah (work groups) and nikayon tzrif (cabin cleaning time). We worked extra hard to make sure that machaneh (camp) would look beautiful for Shabbat, as well as to compete in the Golden Broom competition for the cleanest cabin! Remember that this year, in order to win the competition on Friday nights, campers are required to write a letter to someone at home. So check the mailbox in the next couple of days for a fun surprise!
Chanichimot on the Bogrimot picnic table!
After cleaning time, everyone enjoyed Madatz Pish (age group activity lead by CITs). The Amelimot went through theBorokov hiking trail and planned bedtime stories for each other, the Chotrimot had a scavenger hunt for silly items around machaneh (camp), and the Sayarimot played some games involving teamwork by the shade in the kikar (field) before talking about collective change in society. The Tzophimot had some kvutza (group) bonding in the Moadon (clubhouse) and Hyde Park area, while the Bonimot had some fun pool time and talked about body positivity. The Bogrimot had some zman tzrif (cabin time) before giving each other feedback about their amazing job running BoZman (short for Bogrim Zman or Bogrim time, which was last evening’s tochnit erev or evening activity).
Then, the chanichimot (campers) went on their way to the Mini Moadon (small clubhouse) for Shabbat Shira (singing time). Each age group cheered and danced as they tried to show their ruach (spirit) to be called to lunch first! As always, lunch was pizza served outside before Hyde Park time, when campers offered their opinions and suggestions about the week at machaneh. This week, there was a lot of positive feedback about Special Day, BoZman, and all of the water-themed sports we’ve had recently. Then, the chanichimot (campers) headed to chofesh (free time).
An Amel with her Madatz!
Some of the campers participated in the Mischak Hashavua (Sport of the Week). Others played games with their friends or relaxed in the shade of their tzrifim (cabins) with their friends before everyone washed up for Shabbat. The Bonimot headed to rehearse the prayers they’ll be leading tonight and tomorrow for Kabbalat Shabbat (welcoming Shabbat) and Havdalah (ending Shabbat).
Then everyone gathered for mishpachot (family time) to share with their groups the best and worst things that have happened to them throughout the week and what they’re looking forwards to in the upcoming week. Of course, many campers expressed their excitement for Visitor’s Day on Sunday! Then came a procession around machaneh before everyone greeted each other at the Toren (flagpole). Later on, the Bonimot performed their Kabbalat Shabbat performance which included an English song, Hebrew song, and rikud (Israeli dance). After some more shira (singing time), everyone enjoyed a traditional chicken dinner with matzoball soup, roasted vegetables, and challah bread prepared by the Madatz (CITs).
This evening, the Chotrimot will bring everyone to the refet (barn) to perform their oneg (skit) to poke some fun at the silly things that have happened this week, and then they will lead everyone in rikud (Israeli dancing) in the Moadon (clubhouse). Then, the Madatz (CITs) will put all the campers to bed for a sleep-in tomorrow and very relaxing Shabbat. Tomorrow will include more chugim (electives) run by the Madatz and Bogrimot as well as lots of reflective time.

We’ll see you all on Sunday for Visitor’s Day!
-Carli
