4th of July

Happy Fourth of July!
Today is absolutely gorgeous- sunny and 82 degrees. The day started off with a half hour sleep-in before the chanichimot (campers) dressed up in their red, white, and blue apparel. We had a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs and fruit and then the chanichimot headed off to avodah (work groups). Today, half of the Bogrimot went on our high ropes course, which is open to the Tzophimot (campers entering 8th grade) and up. The course consists of a Zip Line, a Giant’s Ladder (which chanichimot climb in pairs), as well as the Three Elements: the incline log, the cat walk, and the heebie jeebies (where a chanichol (camper) walks across a wire holding onto ropes of different lengths).
A chanichol walks the sheep.
During Pish Alef (the first age group activity), chanichimot did activities that talked about different aspects of America. The Amelimot reenacted the Revolutionary War with water games in their shetach (area), the Chotrimot had instructional swim before heading to the Gan (garden), the Sayarimot decorated the basketball court with chalk before heading down to the pool for instructional swim. The Tzophimot had a peula (discussion/activity) about American identity and the American dream in their shetach, the Bonimot watched In Time in the moadon (clubhouse) which they will spend tomorrow discussing. The Bogrimot who weren’t on the ropes course had a peula about patriotism.
Machaneh (camp) then switched gears for sports. Chanichimot (campers) made sure to stay hydrated whether they were playing basketball, kickball, gaga, or swimming. After sports, chanichimot had some time to wash up before heading to a barbeque for lunch!
Some Bogrimot climb the Giant's Ladder.
During Pish Bet (the second age group activity) the Amelimot had instructional swim, the Chotrimot went on the low ropes course (which has smaller challenges like tightropes that don’t require a harness or belay), and the Sayarimot had a peula (activity) about Native Americans pre-colonization of North America. The Tzophimot played Capture the Flag, the Bonimot finished watching In Time, and the Bogrimot who were not on the high ropes course had some Zman Tsrif (Cabin Time).

Next, everyone headed to Zman Meyuchad (specialist time) where the chanichimot (campers) continued working on the projects that they started last week. After that, those who wanted headed down to the pool for Schiya Chofshit (free swim), while others took some time to hang out with their friends before chugim (clubs).
Tonight after a quesadilla dinner and fun tochnit erev (evening activity), we’re in for a special surprise of fireworks! Have a wonderful Independence Day everyone, and check back in tomorrow!
