Mifgash and Yom Tzophimot

We’re gearing up for another fantastic day at Machaneh (Camp) Galil. Today is a little bit special for a few different age groups! Today, the Tzophimot (campers going into 8th grade) are having Yom Tzophimot, a day where they spend time building relationships through fun bonding activities. Today they will be watching movies in the refet (barn), playing water games in the Mini Moadon (small clubhouse), playing “paint Twister” outside, and making their own t-shirts!
The Bogrimot are filled with ruach (spirit) for Mifgash, a special meeting with campers in their kvutza (group) from Machaneh Moshava, one of Galil’s sister camps in Habonim Dror located in Maryland. The Bogrimot will be spending the whole day and part of tomorrow getting to know their new friends and connecting with the youth movement on a larger scale.

With the Bonimot (campers going into 9th grade) on the high ropes course all day, this leaves all of the younger schavot (age groups) to spend the day together in their regular activities! We started off all together with a breakfast of bagels with cream cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers in addition to the usual spread of fruit and cereal. Today is super sunny and bright, so we had a pool party during Zman Sport (sports time) with all of machaneh (camp)! During Pish Alef (first age group activity), the Amelimot went swimming before practicing Hebrew and English songs for their Kabbalat Shabbat performance on Friday. The Chotrimot went swimming before heading down to the creek. The Sayarimot worked on their oneg (funny skit) for Shabbat before going swimming.
For lunch, we had latkes with applesauce and cooked veggies. During Pish Bet (second age group activity), the Amelimot continued to work on their Kabbalat Shabbat performance in their shetach (cabin area). The Chotrimot had a peula (activity) in their shetach about their kupa (shared candy) system built on trust. The Sayarimot headed to the Beit Omanut (arts and crafts building) to paint tiles for a collective group mosaic. For Zman Meyuchad (specialist time), all of the younger chanichimot (campers) had some bonding time in the Moadon (clubhouse) while all of the older chanichimot enjoyed their special activities. For example, the Bogrimot had a pool party with their new friends from Machaneh Moshava.

The rest of the day should run normally for the younger chanichimot from schiya chofshit (free swim) through chugim (clubs). For dinner tonight, we’ll be having pasta with meat sauce and salad bar! Later, the tochnit erev (evening activity) will be themed as an alien invasion. I’m on the group that helped to plan the activities, so I’m super excited! Have a great evening, and stay tuned for tomorrow!
