Good Evening!
My name is Adam Borisoff and I am a Madrich for the Tzophimot. Today I will be writing the blog to let you know about Yom Yisrael (Israel day), a special day we have so that the chanichimot (campers) can learn more about Israel. This morning the chanichimot were woken up by tzevet (staff) members in pairs of two to get ready to go to school! Each chanichol (camper) recieved a bus pass so they could get on the bus. Once the chanichimot got on the bus they were all given Shoko Be’Sakit (chocolate milk in a bag), and were off to school! Once at school chanichimot had an Israeli breakfast of Israeli Salad, fruit, granola, and shakshuka with toast.

After breakfast the chanichimot moved through different stations on a school hike to get a better understanding of the different cities in Israel. Next, the chanichimot moved on to Hafsaka Pe’ila (active break). When kids in Israel are at recess different youth movements come and try to recruit kids during Hafsaka Pe’ila. We had various activities from just dance, to making a graffiti map of israel, all the way to face painting! Next everyone enjoyed a fantastic Lunch at the Shuk (Mahane Yehuda Market). The Shuk is an outdoor marketplace in Jerusalem with different types of food and housewares. The chanichimot enjoyed hummus, Israeli salad, falafel, pita, and shawarma.

After lunch the chanichimot had some time to rest. Then they had an awesome game of capture the flag. Capture the flag teams were represented by different youth movements. Next the chanichimot had some time to get washed up and had a nice snack of decaf iced coffee and fresh lemon and mint. Next the chanichimot had a choice from different peulot (activities) about different events going on in Israel. Some of the peulot consisted of The complexity of the settlements in the west bank, Jewish and democratic state, and perspectives of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Right after the peulot we had a rafsodiya (raft sailing) in which chanichimot wrote their wishes and hopes for Israel and sailed them across the pool. Next we had dinner. For dinner we had, potato salad, kugel, Israeli salad, and fruit salad. Finally we had a party called May Day. May Day is a day in which members of different youth movements participate in rallies for labour all day then have an amazing party at the end of the night! The madatz (CITs) are going on nofesh (night off) tonight. They will be having a nice dinner and some special desserts. That’s it for Yom Yisrael. This is Adam saying todah raba!
Great job Adam. Very nice to read and learn about the day at camp.
