Good evening everyone!
Today we woke up to sunny skies and warm weather. At 8:30 everyone gathered at the toren (flagpole) for hitkansuit boker (the morning flag raising) before heading off to a delicious breakfast of waffles and fruit. Since the day was already starting to heat up, everyone was reminded to carry their water bottles around with them throughout the day.
Some chanichimot leaving the pool after sports |
During Pish Alef (the first age group activity) the Amelimot went to the moadon (clubhouse) to work on their dance for this week’s Kabbalat Shabbat (Friday evening Shabbat service), and the Chotrimot were still on tiyul (camping trip) going on one last hike before returning to machaneh (camp). Both the Tzophimot and the Bonimot had peulot (activities) about education systems, the Tzophimot were in the pavilion while the Bonimot were in their shetach (area). The Bogrimot had a peula about respect and how that ties into their everyday interactions in the refet (barn).
Chanichimot and madrichimot enjoying the pool during sports |
Since it was so hot, sports ran a bit differently today. Everyone started off by gathering at the basketball court and madrichimot (counselors) listed off different kinds of water sports that chanichimot (campers) could choose between. In addition to being in the water, everyone made sure that they were also drinking plenty of water.
For lunch we had chili, cornbread and a salad bar, which was absolutely delicious. After lunch chanichimot (campers) had some rest time before Pish Bet (the second age group activity). The Amelimot, Sayarimot, and Bogrimot all went down to the pool to cool off, while the Bonimot went to the creek instead. The Chotrimot had some zman tzrif (time with the kids in their cabins), and the Tzophimot played water games.
Free Swim! |
After Pish Bet we swapped out Zman Meyuchad (specialist time) for an extended Schiya Chofshit (free swim) due to the weather. We played music and brought down water coolers so that kids could fill up their water bottles and stay hydrated.
By Chugim (interest groups) the air was starting to cool off, but most groups opted for a more relaxing/or water related activity. After Chugim we’ll have Shira (singing time) and then we’ll have dinner. I don’t know what we’re having, but I’m sure it will be delicious!
Tonight’s Tochnit Erev (evening activity) is l’fi shichva (by age group), so every age group is doing something different (and fun).
See you tomorrow!
-Abby
