Shabbat Shalom!
Today was a beautiful day at Machaneh (camp) Galil! We started the day off with a delicious breakfast of pancakes, cereal, and fruit. After breakfast we had an extended Avodah (work groups) in order to get ready for Shabbat. After that, chanichimot (campers) headed back to their tzrifim (cabins) for Nikayon Tzrif (cabin cleaning time). On Fridays Nikayon is extended because every Friday, all of the tzrifim (cabins) are inspected and given a score. The tzrif with the highest score is awarded the Golden Broom.

After Madatz Pish, we had Shabbat Shira (singing time). Shira works differently on Fridays, and the madrichimot (counselors) who run Shira send chanichimot (campers) to lunch by shichva (age group) in order of enthusiasm and participation. Lunch today was our Friday classic of homemade pizza. As usual, it was absolutely delicious. On Fridays we also have lunch outside, where once chanichimot (campers) have finished eating, we have Hyde Park. Hyde Park is a time where chanichimot can share their thoughts and opinions on machaneh (camp) and a member of Mazkirut writes everything down.
After Hyde Park we had our usual Friday kibud (snack) of water ice before turning the chanichimot loose for some free time before Shabbat. During this free time, there’s also Mischak Hashavua (sport of the week) which is an optional sport that rotates every week, and Schiya Chofshit (free swim).

Later this afternoon, we’ll have Mishpachot (family groups) which are mixed groups of chanichimot (campers), Madatz (CITs), and madrichimot (counselors). We’ll talk about our weeks, and discuss themes from this week’s Torah Parsha before gathering at the toren (flag pole) to lower the flags. Once the flags have been lowered, we will head to the space in front of the Mini Mo where the Amelimot will lead us in Kabbalat Shabbat. Then we’ll sing some songs before we head to dinner and do the blessings.
After dinner, they’ll be more shira (singing time), and then the Oneg Shabbat (Shabbat Skit), this week, the Oneg was written by the Sayarimot. After the Oneg, everyone will head to Rikud (Israeli dancing) which will go until bed time. Tonight, the Madatz (CITs) put their kids to bed, which will be a lot of fun for the chanichimot (campers).
Shabbat Shalom! Don’t forget, since tomorrow is Shabbat, there is no blog post.
