Meet The Bloggers!

Welcome to the Camp Galil blog for 2016! We hope you are just as excited about this summer as we are. Let’s introduce ourselves! First things first, this session there will be two communications specialists (blog writers/photo takers) because in addition to keeping all of you in the loop about our goings-on at machaneh (camp), we will also be running the Beit Omanut (the arts and crafts building). Our names are Abby Kastenberg and Carli Fine. It’s each of our first year on tzevet (staff), but for each of us, this is our ninth summer at Galil.

About Abby: I just finished my first year at Kenyon College, where I’m an English major (although I’m not sure what I want to do after that). I have a younger sister in Madatz (the CIT program), and it’s fun to have a sibling around! I started going to Galil in Chotrimot (going into 6th grade) in the summer of 2008. Some of my favorite activities at camp as a chanicha (camper) were spending time doing arts and crafts, and playing Marco Polo with my friends in the pool during Schiya Chofshit (free swim).
About Carli: I just graduated high school and next year I’ll be going to the University of Maryland to study Psychology and eventually plan to earn a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science. I started coming to Galil in Chotrimot 2009 because I heard there was salad bar at every meal—which I still look forward to during the day! As a chanicha, my favorite activities were playing cards, dancing rikud (Israeli dance), and making friendship bracelets. While I will not be working at Galil second session in order to get ready for college, I hope to spend many more of my summers here in the future!
During the day, when we’re not making cool crafts in the Beit Omanut, we’ll be walking around machaneh taking pictures and asking your campers about how their days are going. Since we’ll be taking turns writing this blog every day, we’ll make sure to sign off on the bottom who wrote what. We’re really looking forward to this summer, and getting to know all of the chanichimot (campers) through running the blog, taking pictures, and doing fun arts and crafts!
